Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

At Afterlife, we are committed to protecting the sensitive information you choose to place in the app. Afterlife is designed as a private life vault for passwords, secure notes, links, files, journal entries, recurring bills, check-ins, and emergency planning instructions. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the app.

2. Information You Choose to Store

Afterlife lets you store information you decide to add to your vault, which may include:

  • Passwords, credentials, secure notes, links, and file records
  • Journal entries and attachments such as photos, files, audio, and sketches
  • Recurring bill details, categories, due dates, and reminder settings
  • Trusted contact details and emergency planning instructions
  • Imported password data from KeePass or browser CSV exports

This vault content is encrypted before storage and is not kept by the app as readable plain text.

3. Security Features and Device Access

Afterlife uses AES-256 encryption with strong key protection for vault content. On supported Apple devices, you may also use Face ID or Touch ID to help control access to the app. Biometric authentication is handled through Apple's device frameworks, and we do not receive your biometric identifiers.

The app may store security preferences, reminder schedules, and local vault metadata needed for the features you enable.

4. Sync, Backup, and Emergency Sharing

If you use cross-device sync while signed in to the same Apple account, encrypted vault data may be stored or transmitted through Apple-provided storage or sync services associated with your account so the vault can remain available on your devices.

If you enable emergency planning features, Afterlife stores the trusted contacts you choose, your check-in schedule, and the specific information you designate for release. If your configured check-ins and follow-up reminders continue to go unanswered, the app may share the selected information with the trusted contacts you assigned according to your settings.

5. Notifications and Reminders

Afterlife may use local or platform notification systems to deliver bill reminders, check-ins, and follow-up alerts. To do that, the app stores scheduling details and notification preferences related to the features you turn on.

6. Purchases

If you purchase Afterlife Pro, billing and payment processing are handled by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your full payment card details. Apple may process transaction-related information under its own privacy policy and terms.

7. Support Requests

If you contact us for support by email, we will receive the information you choose to send, such as your email address, app version, device type, operating system version, and a description of the issue. We use that information only to respond to your request and improve support quality.

Please do not send vault passwords, recovery secrets, or unnecessary sensitive records in support emails.

8. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information from Afterlife. We do not share your private vault content with advertisers or data brokers.

Information may be shared only in limited cases:

  • When you configure the app to share selected emergency information with trusted contacts
  • When Apple processes purchases, sync, storage, or device-level services you choose to use
  • When disclosure is required by law or necessary to protect our legal rights

9. Data Retention and Deletion

Vault items, journals, bills, imported records, and contact instructions remain in your vault until you edit or delete them, subject to how your device backups and Apple account services operate. Support emails may be retained for a reasonable period to handle follow-up requests and maintain support records.

10. Children's Privacy

Afterlife is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect legal, operational, or product changes. The latest version will be posted on this page.
